By the way; exactly what is an 'Open House'?
An Open House is exactly that - a night that the coffeehouse is open... WITHOUT A COVER CHARGE! Just come and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, coffee & other beverages, desserts, and great fellowship. During the time an invited fellow servant of the Lord Jesus shares his or her testimony, a summary of the ministry God has placed on their hearts, and/or perhaps a couple of songs. It's a perfect way to meet fellow believers, have a quiet date night, or gather with friends. Bring friends who don't know the love of God yet, that they may "taste and see that the Lord is good!"

    Elder Care Conference Weekend
    Friday April 4th 6:30-10pm and
    Saturday April 5th 1-4pm

Christian author and caregiver Rundy Purdy will be appearing at The Solid Ground Coffee to share his experience with caregiving. When Rundy was twenty-four he began accompanying his grandparents on a journey through their last years of illness and failing health with their inevitable losses. He recounts his years adventuring through bedtime stories and bathroom struggles and a shared love that stretched across the wide sea of caregiving—a season with memories of closeness but also a struggle through strained relationships and the emotional and spiritual brokenness revealed in the hardness.

Rundy spent eight years providing daily elder care to his two grandparents. His grandfather faced the struggle of Alzheimer's and his grandmother the journey through heart failure. Caring for them through these difficult years made a deep impact on Rundy and created a desire to help others through the grueling, but rewarding, experience of caregiving. After his personal caregiving journey ended, Rundy wrote the book The Sea is Wide: A Memoir of Caregiving which chronicles the Alzheimer’s journey with compassion, hope, and a strong dose of gritty realism. Since the book’s publication Rundy has spoken around the country, shedding light on caregiving and helping others on their own journeys.

    Homesteading Classes

    Dairy Products/Cheese Making Classes

Throughout each week there are one (1) hour classes on how to make dairy products. Classes are $40, and run about one (1) hour (maybe a little more.) They are held in our farmhouse kitchen where there is limited seating for six (6). Call for dates and times. These can fluctuate weekly based on requested needs of individuals.

We also provide tours of our family farm or classes on raising individual animals upon request.  The animals we currently have are dairy cows, pigs, meat chickens/turkeys, and layer hens.  Each animal class gives you an overview of shelter, feed, supplies, butchering, water/minerals, fencing,  and seasonal change needs for that animal. These classes are designed to give an individual or family an overview before jumping out of the boat and into homesteading!

All classes and tours are $40 each and run about an hour. That price is for an individual or a household.  So if your spouse & kids want to be in on it (which we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE), they can all tag along for free!
